This place is absolutely amazingly delicious! El Chilango tastes like home. I tried the gordita de chicharron prensado and the 'tostada de pata'. Couldn't believe my tastes buds when I took my first bite..to die for! This place is a Lil hole in the wall with a real feel of the DF. From the cooks, the food to the atmosphere, you will feel like you're in Mexico City. When you get a chance or a craving for some Authentic Mexican food, this IS THE REAL DEAL!

This place has some very good Mexico D.F. Food! Closest thing I have ever had in the states to Mexico City style food. Great Pambazos! Great quesadillas de huitalcoche and flor de calabaza! There cemitas are decent and their tacos de tripas are to die for! Great food good service!

Ok so heres the deal, if you know what real Mexican food is...not Tex/Gringo Mex not Pocho Mex(Castillos,Casa Corona...etc) then YOU need to head here ASAP. This place is true whole in the wall in Fresno that I recently discovered and was surprised nobody had reviewed it. El Chilango specializes in Mexico DF cuise(Mexico city style food), which is slightly different than you can get anywhere in the California, maybe except for LA SD or SF. They have cemitas(amazing, similar to a torta but way better) gorditas(nothing resembling taco bell), real lamb barbacoa consome(deep pit lamb stew cooked within agave leaves from a ranch according to the workers, this is only available on weekends, and yes they master the consistency of the meat, Ive not had better). If you are true Mexican food junkie trying to survive the surrounding Pocho restaurant scene, give this place a try you wont be disappointed. Oh yea dont go for the tacos.
